How Melfordsh started.
In 2022, our founding team was managing POS systems for a 12-store retail group across Alberta. Every month, inventory swings of 2–4% would show up unexplained. The accounting team blamed operations. Operations blamed the POS. The POS vendor said 'not our problem.' Meanwhile, margin was leaking everywhere.
We realized the gap wasn't broken technology—it was broken conversation. POS systems, inventory platforms, and accounting software each worked fine in isolation. But they weren't talking to each other. We built Melfordsh to be the translator. Today, we work with 180+ independent retailers across Western Canada who need their systems to actually sync, not just coexist.
